This tab compares the selected location, industry, and occupation against similar industries on file.

The Basics

If the "Show wages in today's dollars" box is checked, the wage estimates are updated from Q2, 2014 to the latest quarter's employment cost index. Although this process does not consider seasonal factors, in most cases, it should provide a fairly realistic estimate of what someone doing the job today might expect to make.

To select the statistics appearing on the screen, visit the statistics tab.

To select a different industry as the basis for future comparisons, click the industry name. Note that the selected industry is exploded in the pie chart.

The column header that appears in yellow reflects the current order of the report order of the report. To order the report on a different statistic, click the desired column header. To reverse the order of the report click the currently in ascending order click to make descending or currently in descending order click to make ascending icons.

Industry Hierarchy

This comparison which is based on available data includes both parent and child industries. This hierarchy is based on the Standard Industrial Classification System.

  1. An all-industry estimate has no parent industries but may contain children at the industry division or two-digit industry (SIC-2) level.
  2. An industry division estimate has an all-industry parent and may contain children at the two-digit industry (SIC-2) level.
  3. A two-digit industry (SIC-2) estimate has parents at the all-industry and division levels and may contain children at the three-digit industry (SIC-3) level.
  4. A three-digit industry (SIC-3) estimate's only recognized parents are at the SIC-2 level. It contains no children.
